The Words Irresistibly Concealed for the Blind Adherent is an installation utilizing the three rooms of Gallery Verkligheten. Hope and Discipline stand alone in the middle of the upper floor space. It consists of a pair of wax hands. They hold, or are held, by the blades of three fencing swords. In the ground floor room hang The Alphabet Book, a tapestry constructed by components of perimeter fencing often used to delineate local authority infrastructure. Wordgrafter extends from ceiling to floor in the rear house space.
The work The Words Irresistibly Concealed for the Blind Adherent is an excision from a larger process concerned with embodying the fluctuations of language as shifting between seeking contact and domineering through denominating and between the dialogic richness of language and its performative and normative functions. Or, its most terrifying character: its complete relativity. I am both afraid of the power of words and fearful of words not meaning anything. I oscillate between the brittle belief in the possibility of communicating, the suspicion that it is impossible to change anything and the need to try despite apparent hopelessness.
