List&AST&List, The Nordic House in Reykjavik
May 21st – 24th 2009
The Nordic House in Reykjavík was designed by the world-renowned Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. The five Nordic countries—Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden—supported the construction of the house, which was dedicated on August 24, 1968. The house is one of the last projects Alvar Aalto undertook during his long and prolific career.
The work All About Aalto is built at site and try to find a position to break the tightly controlled dramaturgy of the house. The Nordic house is like a monument or a model of a brain in formalin. Beautiful and rich but stiff and claustrophobic
